We want you to have the financial planning you deserve
While most people commonly think of investments when they think of financial planning, we view successful investing as only one piece of the puzzle. In reality, all the different areas of your finances, in some way, shape, or form, are related to one another.
Which is why you will find us helping you evaluate your insurance policies, coordinating your wills and estate plan, plotting out a multi-year strategic tax plan, modeling scenarios for retirement and funding college educations, and assisting you when it comes time to buy a new home, all in addition to managing your investments.
Holistic financial planning
Fiduciary duty
Many financial advisors have inherent conflicts of interest which arise from receiving commissions or referral fees for specific products such as annuities, insurance policies, or investment products. This means it is difficult to be sure they actually have your best interests in mind when they give you a recommendation.
We are a fiduciary, sworn to put the interests of our clients above all else. What we recommend to you is solely because we think it is best for you.
At Waypoint, we are compensated in only two ways:
Fees from financial planning, which are billed on a quarterly basis
Fees calculated as a percentage of your assets for investment management services
These are all contractually agreed on up front, and we provide you with clearly outlined invoices on a quarterly basis.
Traditionally, advisors charge a fee based upon the assets they manage, and that is typically how we operate. However, experience has shown us that there are many circumstances where that effectively eliminates the option of getting good financial advice for some of the people who need it the most. Therefore, at our discretion we may alternatively charge an annual financial planning fee instead.
How We Work
#1
Intro Phone Call
This 15-minute phone or Zoom call is an opportunity for you to tell us a little about your situation, what you’re looking for, and to understand how we generally work with our clients.
If it makes sense to move forward, we will invite you to schedule a Discovery Meeting after your Initial phone or Zoom Call. In between these two conversations, we will ask you to gather information that is relevant to your financial life, goals, and concerns.
#2
Discovery Meeting
We view the Discovery Meeting as an opportunity to sit and chat about all the questions you have. We will also come prepared with our own questions based on the information you provided and we will discuss your goals, our process and how you’d like to work with a financial advisor.
If there’s a mutual good fit, and you’d like to come on board as a client after our Discovery Meeting, we will begin the client onboarding process.
If it turns out there is not a fit, we will be happy to point you in the right direction of finding a financial advisor that’s better suited for you.
